MSC Heating are experienced and fully qualified in both domestic and commercial installations of air source heat pumps covering the UK. We have a friendly team of installation engineers who are happy to discuss the benefits of installing your air source heat pumps as part of your renewable energy system.
Air-source heat pumps work by extracting heat from outside and transferring it either to the hot water or heating systems of the house, or both.
Air Source Heat Pumps represent an extremely cost effective method of heating both homes and business premises compared with the more traditional form of energy generation using electricity and oil based systems. An Air Source heat pump transfers heat from the air outside to inside, it does not create heat. Because the energy or electricity it uses to pump the heat from one place to another is less than the energy required to create the heat in the first place it represents an extremely energy efficient process.
Installing an air source heat pump means there is no digging involved as there is with the installation of a ground source heat pump, in fact the only real evidence you have installed an air source heat pump system is the appearance of the unit outside which resembles an air-conditioning unit. An air source heat pump works along the same principles as a ground source heat pump in that it transfers existing heat from the air instead of the ground. It absorbs heat from the outside air and then compresses the air to increase the temperature of that heat further to create useful heat.
Air source heat pumps provide both hot water and heating and require very little maintenance. They are generally cheaper to install than ground source heat pumps, however they can be slightly less efficient when providing heating and hot water. They can also be used as air conditioning units when not being used to create heat.
Worcester Bosch Group UK manufacture air to air heat pumps that work in a similar way to air to water heat pumps, but instead of generating hot water, the heat generated is turned into hot air by the indoor unit which is distributed into the property. In addition, air to air heat pumps can also operate as an air cooler during warmer months and advanced air purification technology is particularly beneficial to asthmatics and allergy sufferers.
There are a number of benefits from installing either air or ground source heat pumps and can vary in degree depending on your exiting heating system. Both systens have the potential to:
